The mother, who makes a living by recycling waste, raises her mentally-disabled son Yang Zong-xian. Zong-xian’s father passed away when Zong-xian was young. In 2011, the 59-year-old mother suffered from multiple diseases, and thus decided to find a nursing home for Zong-xian. Without any support, she went all over central Taiwan in search of a place for her boy.


Stephen SHIH was born in Taichung, Taiwan in 1958. He graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Feng Chia University and currently works for the Changhua Telecom. In 2002, after having participated in a documentary training programme, he began to take an interest in documentary. In 2011, Shih met Mrs Zhang Xiu-rong and her son and decided to make a documentary about them.
